Tuesday 13 June – Three Home Cooks go up against Montrachets’ Station Chef
The souffle challenge started and the recipe the contestant had to make was a twice baked cheese souffle. the competition was fierce and teh technical challenge of making a souffle on TV had everyone on edge. at the end , jessie one of the home cooks was unfortunate and her souflle did not rise on the second bake end ended up flat which cost her the challenge and had to go home. The juge decision has been very difficult but still went for Montrachet restaurant Double baked crab souffle with a spanner crab bisque which was pretty impressive indeed. home cook stephane took second place and was won the best home cook dish for a second time in a row.
Stephane’s Souffle recipe has been selected and published on the SBS Website
Wednesday 14 June – Two Home Cooks go up against Montrachets’ Sous Chef
The contestants are back with only two home cook left and today the home cooks and sous chef jamie faced an open challenge to cook their own version of a duck dish with potato and a sauce. While everyone else decided to cook a duck breast home cook stephane decided to cook his version of the Duck orange by making a Duck Marylands (duck legs) with the a citrus sauce and homemade Duchess potatoes. Unfortunately Stephane took a bit too much risk by choosing to cook duck legs in such a short time. and while his sauce and potatoes were a success the duck legs did not had time to cook long enough for the meat to fall off the bones and cost him the victory as the judge decided the meat could have cooked longer. Restaurant Montrachet wins again for the third time with their marinated duck breast with carrots three ways and Dauphine potatoes. well done Montrachet.
